blame it on the lack of alcohol
on train to airport and trying to recapture by phone before the memories fly with me
Tuesday? Where’d I leave off.
Jacob Anderson. Didn’t make the lottery for show premiere but his graciousness in greeting fans who couldn’t make it in will be a staple memory. Thanks Theo for recording.
What the heck did I do wednesday?? I shouldn’t have waited. Yesterday was all the museums. Oh wait, Guggenheim! Cooper something. National history shop. Umm did I see a movie? Backrooms, was that Wednesday? Alamo Drafthouse frankly ticked off the list. VHS rentals and actually machines - trip down nostalgia lane.
Central Park and the tenement museum, too.
Chinatown goods that were cash only and vegan groceries and $1 puffs? Now I want those pancakes again.
Jacob soul food bar and later finding out it’s the local fave. All the wins.
Thursday! Last day and too many museums I couldn’t get too like studio and subway.
Ahh the subways, likely 20% of my trip. Something I love about it.. maybe all the people watching.
But soul of Harlem your and passing by shadows of Malcom X, Langston Hughes, Ella/Sam/Miles/Billie/Nina/etc!! Apollo! Lovely guide, new friend Sapphire, guessed nonprofit work.
Lost count of pizza and bagels. Body full of carbs and love.
Met Cloisters- stunning!! So jealous of people who live close and can spend full days. Jazz museum in Harlem quaint but if in town again should catch a show. Oh gosh, then what? Rug tufting!! Obsessed! Must find a place in Seattle.
Parks, bead stores, sunsets.
and this morning? Bagel hunting, inclusive cafes, waterfall in city blocks. All the well mannered and gracious folk helping with my bags. Will likely most remember the spirit of Harlem and the community bursting with- well, community.
And gosh my ego needed the catcalling. Many were probably surprised I said “thank you,” I’m sure! But the amount of strangers calling me beautiful or complimenting my eyes in Seattle? Pfft. I’m a ghost, boo!!
Likely spent too much- but worth the memories and the time spent enjoying myself and passions and being just a small ant in this hill we call earth.
Feeling content, loving, okay. It will all be okay.
And when home: apologize in advance to my laptop. The writing will be long. Must document before I forget that pumpernickel and olive.!
